Obuasi: ECG cable thief arrested


The Police in Obuasi in the Ashanti Region have arrested one Abdullai Mohammed for allegedly stealing cables belonging to the Electricity Company, Ghana.

According to a Police situational report, Sarpong caught Abdullai Mohammed stealing the cables.

Upon catching Abdullai Mohammed he gave Sarpong his phone and an amount of Ghc 150.00 to buy his silence.

Abdullai Mohammed is said to have gone to sell the cables to a scrap dealer but later on, came back to Sarpong to take his phone forcefully.

Infuriated by Abdullai Mohammed’s actions, Sarpong reported the case to the police and Abdullai Mohammed was subsequently picked up.

Efforts are underway to retrieve the cables from the scrap dealer yet to be identified.
