Comparing Mbappe’s performance to Ronaldo at Euro 2024

Mbappe’s form with France

Mbappe’s modest tally of one goal in three games reflects France’s broader struggles at Euro 2024.

Les Bleus have managed just three goals en route to the quarter-finals, none of which came from open play. Two of these goals were fortuitous own goals by their opponents.

Ronaldo’s form with Portugal

On the other hand, Ronaldo has also experienced a frustrating tournament in his record sixth European Championship appearance.

Despite producing more shots on target than any other player, the 39-year-old has yet to score, registering only a single assist, per Transfermarkt.

He missed a crucial penalty in extra time against Slovenia, which Jan Oblak saved, but he redeemed himself by scoring in the shootout to help Portugal secure a 3-0 victory, Sky Sports reports.

Mbappe to face Ronaldo in epic clash

The upcoming match on Friday, July 5, promises to be a thrilling encounter as both teams vie for a spot in the semi-finals.

Given their almost similar fortunes in the tournament so far and their close bond, the clash between Mbappe and Ronaldo is particularly enticing.

Mbappe copies Ronaldo, chants ‘Siuu’

In anticipation of this marquee matchup, a video has resurfaced online of the Frenchman imitating Ronaldo’s signature celebration.

The footage, sighted by Sports Brief, shows the new Real Madrid star preparing for a warm-up ahead of their final group game against Poland, enthusiastically chanting “Siuu” to the cameras.

As the two superstars prepare to face off, fans are eager to see if Mbappe can rise to the occasion and emulate his idol’s legendary performances on the international stage.

Mbappe ‘touched’ by Ronaldo’s gesture after Madrid move

In a previous publication, Sports Brief reported that Kylian Mbappe described Cristiano Ronaldo’s reaction to his dream move to Real Madrid as “touching.”

Ronaldo, whom Mbappe greatly admires, expressed his excitement over the former PSG star’s social media post following his transfer to the Santiago Bernabeu.
