With the Brazilians looking to retain their league title, and add other trophies to their cabinet, they have decided to part ways with some of their stars ahead of the new season.

4 players leaving Mamelodi Sundowns
Bongani Zungu
The 31-year-old midfielder will depart the club for a second time in his career.
Having played for them in 2016, he then played in Portugal, Scotland, and France, before returning to South Africa.
He made 30 appearances for champions this past season, but featured mainly as a substitute.
Brian Onyango
A veteran defender, Onyango has been with the side since 2020.
The Kenyan made 61 appearances for the side, winning three league titles with them.
FARPost noted that Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena previously praised the defender, describing him as such a special player.
Thabiso Kutumela
The 30-year-old striker leaves the side after just 38 appearances since 2021.
Kutumela spent the past season on loan at Cape Town, where he made 28 appearances.
He was previously linked with a move to Kaizer Chiefs and should find a new side soon.

Gaston Sirino
Urguay’s Sirino’s departure was expected by many.
The midfielder previously put in a transfer request and has experience limited game time of late.
Now officially a South African citizen, he could return to his country or remain in the league.
Zungu linked with Saudi Arabian move
Sports Brief reported that Zungu could be heading to Saudi Arabia to play his football.
The midfielder has no shortage of experience playing abroad, having won played in Europe.
The links with the Middle Eastern country came after he announced he was leaving Sundowns.
