Stanley Nwabali and 4 Bafana Bafana Stars Buccaneers Should Sign This Summer

  • Sports Brief has listed some top players the Buccaneers should consider signing this summer to bolster their squad ahead of the 2024-25 campaign

Orlando Pirates must strengthen their squad this summer to compete with Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs in the Premier Soccer League next season.

The Buccaneers are arguably the second-best team in the South African league. They were triumphant in cup competitions after finishing second in the 2023-24 DStv Premiership season.

Sports Brief suggests some players the Soweto giants need to sign this summer to compete efficiently with the Brazilians for the league title and in the CAF Champions League.

Players Orlando Pirates should sign this summer

1. Stanley Nwabali

Nwabali is on the Bucs’ radar after his stellar performance for the Nigerian national team at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.

The former Enyimba star also had an excellent season with Chippa United in the DStv Premiership, but Pirates will face serious competition from Soweto rivals Kaizer Chiefs, who are also interested in the Super Eagles goalkeeper.

2. Elias Mokwana

Orlando Pirates are one of the teams interested in signing Mokwana this summer after his performance for Sekhukhune United in the league.

The 24-year-old star improved immensely and earned a place in the South Africa national team, and it would be a positive addition to Jose Riveiro’s team.

3. Jayden Adams

Adams is rated as one of the best attacking midfielders in the PSL, and his performance for Stellenbosch FC has attracted the attention of top teams both locally and abroad.

Adding Adams to Pirates midfield alongside Patrick Maswanganyi and others could be what the club need to compete with Sundowns for the league title.

The Bucs will play in several competitions next season and need a big squad to succeed.

4. Oswin Appollis

Pirates will lose some of their attackers and need new forwards for the new season.

Appollis has been linked with a summer move to both Soweto giants, Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates, but the Bucs need to do everything possible to sign the Bafana Bafana star ahead of their city rivals.

5. Rushwin Dortley

Dortley is one of the brightest defenders in South Africa, and he’s proving that more at the ongoing 2024 COSAFA Cup with the Bafana Bafana B team.

According to a report by the South African, the defender’s future is still up in the air, with several clubs showing interest in him after Cape Town Spurs’ relegation.

Pirates told to sign Nwabali

Sports Brief earlier reported on Thabang Stemmer urging Orlando Pirates to sign Nwabali this summer.

While the Buccaneers have signed a new attacker, the club have also been advised to bring in a new goalkeeper to bolster their squad.
