Six Persons Confirmed Dead in Borno Suicide Attack


At least six people lost their lives, and 15 others were injured in a suicide attack in Gwoza, Borno State, on Saturday, the police have confirmed.

The tragedy occurred at a bustling motor park, known as Marrarraban Gwoza.

According to eyewitnesses, the suicide bomber, a female, targeted a wedding ceremony, at about 1:30 p.m.

Borno State Commissioner of Police, Yusuf Lawal, confirmed the incident, stating that he was informed by the Divisional Police Officer in Gwoza that six people were killed, and 15 others were evacuated to the hospital.

An eyewitness, Muhammed Kasim, described the bomb blast, saying, “We heard a very loud sound of explosive, accompanied with dust; then we saw bodies on the ground.”

Security agencies have been deployed to sanitize the area.
