Many Killed as Explosions rock Wedding and Funeral in Gwoza, Borno State

A suspected suicide bombing has occurred at a wedding ceremony in Borno, claiming multiple lives and leaving several others injured.

The horrific incident occurred at Tashan Mararaba, near the Fire Service in Gwoza town, Borno State.

According to eyewitnesses, a female bomber, carrying a baby on her back, detonated an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in the midst of the wedding guests.

The blast was followed by a second explosion in the Mararaba area, where people had gathered for a funeral.

The attacks have left an unspecified number of fatalities and at least 16 injured.

It is understood that those injured were rushed to the hospital for treatment.

The military has since taken control of the streets in Gwoza, and a curfew has been imposed to enable security forces to sanitize the town and prevent further threats.
