Committe Recoomends ammendements to section 37(7) of C.I 76 , 2012

The Committee Setup by the Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin on the leaked tape discussing the removal of the Inspector General of Police, George Akuffo Dampare PhD has finalized its report after months of investigation.

The Committee has recommended that section 37(7) of C.I 76 , 2012 which states that “An officer who attains higher academic qualification is not entitled to promotion by reason only of that academic qualification”.

According to the Committee, the amendment will address the legal restrictions placed on the Police personnel who with the approval of the GPS improve their educational standards including passing examinations that leads to membership of professional bodies.

The committee believes that this amendment will help improve human resources and professional skills with the Ghana Police Service as well as improve morale of affected persons.
