Fenerbahce’s African Stars Meet Jose Mourinho In Pre Season

Ghana and Nigeria players, Alexander Djiku and Bright Osayi-Samuel have met new Fenerbahce coach, Jose Mourinho, as the Turkish giants begin pre-season.

Mourinho, a former Chelsea and Real Madrid manager, was named Fenerbahce coach this summer after the Turkish giants missed the title by just three points.

The legendary manager is expected to around the fortunes of the club as they eye the Super Lig title next season.

The club opened pre-season training this week with players on vacation quickly rejoining their teammates to start preparations for the upcoming campaign.

In photos posted on social media, Djiku and Osayi-Samuel, who were involved in international duty during the World Cup qualifiers, were spotted with the Portuguese gaffer.

The duo listened attentively to the coach as he delivered his philosophy to the team before practice reached the advanced stages.

Meanwhile, the Yellow-Navy Blues will begin their season next month with a UEFA Champions League qualification game against Swiss giants, Lugano.

Fenerbahce have also lined up pre-season friendlies against Petrolul Ploiesti, Admira, and Hadjuk Split, as reported by the club’s official website.

Djiku and Osayi-Samuel played a key role in Fenerbahce’s campaign last season, as they finished the Turkish top flight season as runners-up.

Stephen Appiah tips Djiku to excel under Mourinho

Earlier, Sports Brief reported on Fenerbahce legend, Stephen Appiah praising the appointment of Mourinho as the new coach of the Turkish team.

The legendary former Chelsea tactician was announced as the club’s new manager on June 1 and was presented to the club fans the following day.

Appiah, who enjoyed a successful spell at the Turkish outfit between 2005 to 2008, believes Mourinho’s arrival will benefit the club’s African stars.
