Kylian Mbappe’s Return Date for France Confirmed by Didier Deschamps

  • Kylian Mbappe is raring to go for France’s final Euro 2024 group match against Poland following his injury setback
  • The captain suffered a broken nose during Les Blues’ opening game against Austria which forced him to be subbed
  • France will look to top Group D on Tuesday when they take on Poland, who have been knocked out of the Euros

Didier Deschamps has confirmed Kylian Mbappe is back and should be available for France’s final group game against Poland on Tuesday, June 25.

The 25-year-old forward was an unused substitute as Les Bleus played out a goalless draw with Netherlands in their second match of the 2024 European Championship after suffering a broken nose against Austria.

According to Eurosport, Deschamps said Mbappe is raring to go and the France captain’s facial injury is getting ‘better every day’, which makes him available for selection on Tuesday.

“It’s better every day. He was in our training sessions. The bruise has gone down a lot. He’s getting used to the mask.

“He wants to play, he’s raring to go. He wanted to play against the Netherlands and he wants to play tomorrow.”

France has already advanced to the Round of 16 after defeating Austria and drawing with the Netherlands, but a victory over Poland would guarantee top spot in Group D for Deschamps’ men.

Mbappe struggling with face mask

Meanwhile, Deschamps has admitted that Mbappe still struggles to see while wearing the mask he requires to protect his face after fracturing his nose last week against Austria, GOAL reports.

The new Real Madrid forward has been training behind closed doors while wearing a protective mask and is expected to wear the protective gear for the rest of the tournament.

Mbappe will continue the search for his first-ever European Championship goal when he returns to the pitch in France’s final group game against Poland, who are already eliminated.

Mbappe bags brace in practice

Sports Brief also previously reported that Mbappe is ready for France’s final game of the group stages against Poland at Euro 2024 after scoring twice in a recent practice game.

The 25-year-old missed Les Bleus’ disappointing goalless draw with the Netherlands while recovering from a fractured nose suffered in their first match against Austria.

Despite France’s attacking depth, they struggled without Mbappe and were lucky to escape with a point after Xavi Simons’ strike was controversially chalked off for offside.
