Manchester United Great Reacts After CR7 Breaks Another Record at Euro 2024

  • Rio Ferdinand reacted to Cristiano Ronaldo’s latest landmark at the ongoing 2024 Euros in Germany as Portugal beat Turkey
  • The Selecao captain broke the all-time assist record as his side booked an early ticket to the knockout round with a 3-0 win
  • Meanwhile, he will look to break his goal-scoring drought in Portugal’s last Group F game against debutants Georgia

Manchester United legend, Rio Ferdinand, couldn’t contain his excitement as he celebrated Cristiano Ronaldo’s latest record-breaking achievements at the 2024 UEFA European Championship.

Although Ronaldo has yet to score in the ongoing Euros in Germany, the 39-year-old has already set two new records in Portugal’s first two games.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s enviable records

First, he became the only player to feature in six European Championships, a milestone he reached during Portugal’s Group F opener against Czechia.

The veteran forward then set another record by achieving the most assists in the history of the tournament on Saturday, June 22, per GOAL.

As noted by Sportstar, this adds to his existing record of the most goals scored in the competition, with 14 goals across six tournaments.

Cristiano also holds similar records in the Champions League, with 140 goals and 42 assists to his name.

He reached his latest milestone during the Selecao’s 3-0 victory over Turkey, joining hosts Germany and three-time winners Spain as the only teams with a perfect win rate so far at Euro 2024.

Rio Ferdinand hails Ronaldo after new record

After the match, Rio Ferdinand was among the first to congratulate Ronaldo on his remarkable achievement.

The former England defender, who notably never played in the European Championships, praised the Portugal captain for his record-breaking assist tally at the Euros.

Ferdinand concluded his congratulatory post on X with a fist pump and heart emojis, highlighting his admiration for Ronaldo’s continued success.

Fans commend ‘unselfish’ Ronaldo

In a related article, Sports Brief reported that fans trooped to X (formerly called Twitter) to commend the Al-Nassr forward, who has long been criticised for being selfish and not a team player.

Although the forward didn’t score in Portugal’s 3-0 victory over Turkey, he earned widespread praise for his selfless play in setting up Fernandes.

One fan, @manuelphrimpz, praised CR7’s assist to Bruno Fernandes, calling the pass a ‘masterclass’.
