Tagging persons who can’t speak Twi as not proper Ghanaians racism – Blakk Rasta

Astute media personality and Reggae artiste, Blakk Rasta has insisted that it’s racist and tribalistic for anyone to say that those who don’t speak Twi are not proper Ghanaians.

“Of course, it’s a very racist and tribalistic statement to say if you’re unable to speak or understand the Twi language then you are not a proper Ghanaian,” he told Amansan Krakye.

According to the ‘Barack Obama’ hitmaker, Twi is not more important than the other languages in Ghana even though it is spoken by most people in the country.

He explained “It’s true that Twi is a language spoken by most people but it’s not more important than the other languages in Ghana that are spoken by other people.

“To say if you are a Ghanaian and you don’t understand Twi then you’re not a proper citizen is racist and tribalistic but if you say Twi is spoken by many so it’s good if you also speak it.

“That’s a bit different and acceptable to say that you have to try and also speak Twi as Ghanaian because it’s spoken and understood by most people in the country,” he added.
