The Athletic Bilbao winger starred for Spain as they defeated Italy 1-0 to go top of Group B and progress to the last 16 of the competitions.

Williams’ cross was deflected into an own goal by Riccardo Calafiori in the second half as Spain continued their high-flying start to the competition.

The Barcelona target was officially named Man of the Match following his outstanding performance.

His elder brother took to social media to post: “Pure cinema Junior. Starboy.”

Spain will next face Albania as they wrap up with Group B before the knockout stages begin later next week.

Meanwhile, Inaki is recovering after undergoing surgery to remove a glass from his left foot last month. The injury kept him out of Ghana’s World Cup qualifiers against Mali and the Central African Republic early this month.

He later married his longtime girlfriend Patricia Morales at a lovely ceremony in Bilbao on June 3, as reported by 3 News.

Spain beat Italy to reach last 16

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Spain qualified for the last 16 of Euro 2024 with a match to spare on Thursday after beating Italy 1-0 in a dominant display which ensured that La Roja would go through as Group B winners.

Riccardo Calafiori’s own goal nine minutes after half-time was the difference between the two sides at Gelsenkirchen in the biggest match to date at the tournament in Germany.

But the slender margin of victory didn’t reflect a statement performance from Spain who completely nullified Italy and should have had the game won by half-time, as they did in their opening round thumping of Croatia.
