Hit and run: One dead, another injured


One person has been confirmed dead and another injured after they were run over by a speeding vehicle that failed to stop at Konongo in the Ashanti Region.

According to the police, 19-year-old Ernest Kakari was riding a Hoajin motorbike with registration M-22-AS 619 with pillion rider Awudu Adam aged 35 years aka Redoo ( now deceased)on board from Beposo towards Konongo.

On reaching a section of the road at Alafia near Konongo-Odumase along the Konongo-Kumasi highway, a vehicle following them suddenly knocked them down and failed to stop and sped off. The pillion rider died on the spot.

The body of the deceased has been conveyed to the Stewards Hospital morgue for preservation, identification and autopsy while the injured rider is on admission at the same hospital receiving treatment.
