Two of Four persons who robbed some Chinese nationals and their Ghanaian counterparts near Jacobu in the Amansie Central District of the Ashanti Region have been arrested.
The suspects after robbing their victims of their valuables including mobile phones, forced one of them to transfer an amount of GHC30,000 to an MTN Mobile Money number after which they bolted.
According to the facts of the case contained in a police situational report sighted by MyNewsGh.com, on 29th April 2024, at about 11 pm, two Chinese Nationals and two Ghanaians were returning from Benenebeng forest near Jacobu after loading their excavators to Anwiankwanta.
They were attacked by four armed men with guns at Fiakoma near Jacobu. The suspects robbed them of 2 iPhones and an amount of Ghc7000.00 and further forced one of the Chinese to transfer an amount of GHc 30,000. 00 from his phone number to MTN number 0541038357 bearing the name Esther Opoku
On 15th June 2024, tracked the said Esther Opoku to Obuasi and got her apprehended and she admitted the offence but informed the Police that one of the suspects by the name Peter Boadi who is her is her ex-boyfriend called to inform her about the said transfer.
According to her, her ex and three others came and she withdrew the said amount for them after which they gave her GHC700.00.
Police investigators managed to arrest, suspects Eric Danso aged 21 and Daniel Kwaku Owusu aged 35 at their hideouts at Fiankoma and Konongo Patreansa respectively for their involvement in the robbery
They both confessed their involvement in the crime. Suspect Daniel Kwaku Owusu admitted he got GHC10,000 of the booty while suspect Eric Danso also admitted getting GHC7,000.
Meanwhile suspect Peter Boadi the main leader of the gang who also has in his possession a locally manufactured pistol is also being traced.
