  • Stanley Nwabali’s performances for Nigeria in the Africa Cup of Nations have got a lot of clubs interested in signing him
  • Kaizer Chiefs are looking to bolster their squad ahead of the new season and have been linked with a move for Nwabali
  • Former Orlando Pirates player, Justice Chabalala, has advised the Super Eagles keeper to join the Bucs if he exits Chippa

Where Stanley Nwabali will play his football next season is still a huge talking point in the country.

The Chippa United goalkeeper turned heads with his performances at the Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast, fuelling numerous transfer rumours.

The Chilli Boys have also confirmed that the Nigerian won’t be part of the squad next season, putting many local and international clubs on notice, GOAL noted.

One of those sides are Kaizer Chiefs, a team in need of a new keeper.

The Amakhosi have Brandon Petersen and Bruce Bvuma in their ranks, but another poor season has exposed their lack of leadership at the back.

While Kaizer Chiefs are reportedly interested in the star, their Soweto rivals could benefit instead.

Nwabali advised to join Orlando Pirates

As noted by Soccer Laduma, Chippa United captain, Justice Chabalala, has urged the Super Eagles star to go to the Buccaneers if he leaves Chippa United.

“We don’t want to lose any players, but for me, if you leave Chippa and you move to Pirates, it’s a good thing. It’s a good achievement in South Africa, if you move to a club like Chiefs as well, the same goes for Sundowns, maybe even SuperSport [United],” he said.

Chabalala’s recommendation may be biased, considering he’s a former Pirates star.

The 32-year-old joined the club in 2016 but spent a lot of time away on loan. He only made 20 appearances for the side before joining Chippa on a permanent deal in 2022.

Nwabali set for Chippa exit

Sports Brief also previously reported that Nwabali was set to leave Chippa United at the end of the season.

The Nigerian international made a name for himself thanks to his performances at the Africa Cup of Nations.

The club’s goalkeeping coach, Sean Louw, has now confirmed the player will not be at the side next season.
